Test Preparation Programs
One-on-one preparation for graduate and professional admissions exams.
Only a Test LLC provides individualized preparation for the GMAT, GRE, and LSAT focused on test-specific strategy, disciplined practice, and targeted content review where needed. Instruction is tailored to the student’s current score range, timeline, and admissions goals, with a clear, efficient path for improvement.
Most students begin with a recent official score or a full-length practice test completed independently. That baseline is used to identify strengths, recurring weaknesses, and score-limiting habits before formal instruction begins.
Preparation for these exams is conducted exclusively one-on-one to allow for precise pacing, flexible scheduling, and instruction calibrated to the demands of each test.
Program overview
- Foundation (6 hours): Focused preparation for students seeking familiarity with the test format, pacing strategies, and high-frequency question types, with an emphasis on efficient score gains.
- Core (12 hours): Balanced preparation combining test-specific strategy with targeted content instruction to address recurring weaknesses and improve consistency across sections.
- Complete (18 hours): Comprehensive preparation emphasizing sustained instruction, confidence-building, and readiness across all tested areas for students pursuing significant score improvement.

How programs are structured
- Instruction is provided one-on-one to allow for precise pacing and individualized focus.
- Programs are organized in 6-, 12-, and 18-hour formats, depending on goals and timeline.
- An initial baseline is established using a recent official score or a full-length practice test completed at home.
- Program scope, pacing, and emphasis areas are discussed during consultation or enrollment.
Before selecting a program
If you’re unsure which option is appropriate, you’re encouraged to start with a brief conversation. Program selection is based on baseline performance, academic background, available timeline, and the admissions context of the schools being considered.
Foundation — 6 hours
For students who want targeted score improvement driven primarily by test-taking strategy, pacing, and decision-making rather than extended content instruction.
Typical starting ranges:
- Students with a recent official score or practice test showing solid baseline knowledge, but inefficient execution.
- Often losing points to timing issues, poor question selection, or second-guessing rather than gaps in understanding.
- Frequently first-time test takers or repeat testers who feel “prepared” but underperform relative to expectations.
Program focus:
Strong emphasis on test mechanics and strategy: pacing frameworks, question triage, educated guessing, and recognizing when a question is not worth finishing. Instruction centers on maximizing points earned per minute and minimizing avoidable losses, with only limited, highly targeted content review when it directly supports strategic gains.
Typical improvement:
- Many students see immediate gains from better pacing, smarter skipping, and reduced unforced errors.
- Score increases often come from improved efficiency and consistency rather than new content mastery.
- Results vary based on starting score, timing discipline, and between sessions.

Core — 12 hours
For students seeking meaningful, durable improvement through a balanced approach that combines high-leverage test strategy with targeted content instruction, without the length or intensity of a full remediation program.
Typical starting ranges:
- Students with prior exposure to the exam format (official test, practice test, or prior prep), typically scoring in the mid-range of their target programs.
- Performance profiles often show solid fundamentals alongside recurring weaknesses in timing, accuracy, or question selection.
- Final placement is confirmed using recent official scores or a representative practice baseline.
Program focus:
Emphasizes test-specific strategy, pacing discipline, and pattern recognition,
paired with targeted content instruction in areas that most directly limit score progression.
Instruction prioritizes efficiency, decision-making, and repeatable execution under timed conditions.
Typical improvement:
- Increased consistency across sections through improved pacing and question prioritization.
- Measurable score gains driven by fewer unforced errors and better strategic choices.
- Stronger confidence and control on test day, particularly for students previously underperforming relative to ability.

Complete — 18 hours
For students who need substantial score improvement and sustained instruction alongside strategy—particularly when baseline results reveal multiple weaknesses or inconsistent performance across sections.
Typical starting ranges:
- Students whose prior test results or practice exams show broad skill gaps rather than isolated issues.
- Often struggling with a combination of pacing, accuracy, and underlying content weaknesses.
- Placement is confirmed using a recent official exam or a credible full-length practice test.
Program focus:
A comprehensive preparation plan combining advanced test strategy with sustained, targeted instruction.
Emphasis is placed on rebuilding weak areas, improving endurance, and developing a repeatable,
high-confidence approach across all tested sections.
Typical improvement:
- Meaningful, durable score gains driven by improved execution, pacing control, and section-to-section consistency.
- Stronger results for students who commit to regular practice and follow-through between sessions.
- Final outcomes depend on baseline performance, timeline, and consistency of effort.

Additional Information
Hourly instruction
- Individual instruction: $220 per hour, payable by the appointment.
- Hourly sessions are typically used for targeted help, short timelines, or narrowly defined goals.
Baseline & diagnostics
Preparation is guided by a working baseline established from a student’s most recent official test, official practice test, or other credible prior diagnostic. Because modern graduate admissions exams are computer-based and adaptive, and because official practice materials are limited, instruction focuses on identifying patterns of strengths and weaknesses across sections rather than relying on repeated full-length testing. When additional diagnostics are advisable, recommendations are discussed during consultation or enrollment.
Outcome-focused preparation
Programs are designed to produce measurable improvement when students engage consistently with instruction and assigned practice. During consultation or enrollment, we discuss realistic expectations based on starting point, timeline, and prior testing history, and we select a program length appropriate to those goals. While specific score increases cannot be promised on adaptive graduate admissions exams, instruction is structured to maximize score-relevant gains within the available preparation window.
Returning students
Returning students are welcome. If you previously worked with Only a Test LLC for a different exam (or earlier attempt), we’ll use prior scores and history as part of the baseline and build an updated plan based on current goals and timeline. Pricing protection, when applicable, is limited to the specific student and the specific program scope originally enrolled.
