About Ross Nowels

Ross Nowels is the founder, lead instructor, and president of Only a Test LLC.

He has worked in standardized test preparation since 1993, including nearly a decade with The Princeton Review, where he taught students, trained instructors, certified trainers, and contributed to curriculum and program development for the ACT and GRE.

Since 2002, Ross has worked independently, building his practice almost entirely through ongoing referrals from parents, students, and educators. He brings over 30 years of experience to his work and is known for a clear, strategy-driven teaching style that emphasizes reasoning, structure, and efficient decision-making under pressure.

Ross works directly with every student and does not subcontract instruction.
